The best sixty minutes of rib-tickling historic escapism you'll find in Skipton. Our canal trip promises you a guided tour that's fun whatever the weather with the finest countryside views you can get without moving your feet. Your guide for the canal tour is award-winning comedian Dave Spikey of Phoenix Nights and 8 Out of 10 Cats fame. With his characteristic Northern patter, Dave takes you on a whistle-stop tour of Skipton and canal history that's refreshingly different to your average commentary. Above the jokes and laughter, you'll hear points of interest and fascinating stories of how the Leeds & Liverpool canal delivered the lifeblood of the industrial revolution through Yorkshire. There's food and drink on board too so it's a fun twist to your lunchtime break. Our lively canal trip proves you don't have to let planning or nasty weather get in the way of a good time. Our boat The Cobbydale sails at 10.45Am, 11:50am, 1:00pm, 2:10pm and 3:20pm. (The 10:45am trip runs in the high season, All trips run subject to demand).

The one hour trip along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal was an enjoyable and relaxing experience, although we passed through nicer scenery on the way to Skipton than we did on the boat trip itself. I found the commentary about the history of the canal...More

We did this boat trip as part of a group and although it was interesting, I don't think I'd do it again. If you want a meandering little cruise then this is for you. I couldn't hear half of what the information being said overhead....More

This was fairly priced and relaxing as we'd hoped. We saw some lovely views along the canal. The commentary was amusing at times although it was quite quiet which meant we couldn't hear it when people were talking on the boat. A good trip to...More

We have done this for a couple of years and it is great day out with a group of ten per boat for £150. Good scenery, swing bridges to deal with good food at the pub for dinner with 10% as a canal user booking...More

I organised a boat trip for 42 members of a German exchange group with afternoon tea. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon travelling through beautiful countryside.

The boat was smooth, the staff was friendly & polite, the drinks & food was served perfectly, what more could you ask for more than if you have not done this trip yet my advise is do it, its lovely.

The trees obstructed the wonderful views of York, though this is unavoidable. The driver was funny, and made the journey enjoyable. It's not something I would do again, but it's worth a try to pass the time. It's overpriced, but is just something different.

We thought it would be nice to do a boat trip whilst in Skipton. There were only 8 of us on the boat as it was quite a dreary Monday morning and we took the 1 hour trip that was available. Staff are friendly and...More

It's a bit tight getting aboard but should be easy enough with a little help from the crew.
