Take a step back in time at the Gwili Steam Railway, a delightful preserved railway just outside Carmarthen in West Wales. Running steam train services every day of local school holidays and selected days throughout the remainder of the year, this is the perfect trip for all ages to enjoy. Experience a typical country branch line from the 1950s with a stop off at Llwyfan Cerrig Station in a beautiful spot alongside the River Gwili.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect as never been before and not the cheapest offer, but turned into a great trip all the volunteer staff were great, Santas gifts really suited all the age groups and nice quality, lots of other freebies and cheap prices at cafes Fabulous time highly recommended

Organised a cream tea for 64 people as part pf our fund raising for the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society on 6th October Lovely day and a super trip.In addition to the standard Cream tea the company had arranged for a plate of freshly cut sandwiches to be available-really top quality. The short journey up along the banks of the river Gwili... Once again brilliant time out to see Santa. Very welcoming as usual, this is our 5th Xmas. Everyone takes the time to talk to you. Presents are well worth the money and the children have a bag and treats as well. Gets better each year.....well done Santa and his helpers. P.s. Grown ups get a mince pie and tot of... More

I have waited to post this review so that it is a bit more balanced than it would have been the following day. We recently attended the Murder Mystery evening - really looked forward to it and at £45 each it was a big treat. When I think of where we could have eaten for that price it makes me... More

You need to take the young kids on the Santa trains running leading up to Christmas. The staff are fun and get in the spirit - yes it's a short ride but kids just love the whole experience. Santa pressy is a decent one too!

Thank you for the review and the great score. We are flat out now getting ready for the Santa trains. It seems to come round so quickly and there is so much that needs to happen before the event. The steam trains are all ready and we will soon be taking the marquee up to the middle station to change... More

I did not know that this railway still existed nor that they had a little miniature railway running alongside that was included in the ticket price. Great afternoon out and we got the chance to stand on the engine footplate, shovel coal into the boiler and more! Fantastic fun for kids of all ages. They were really accommodating for us... More

Thank you for taking the time to wrote a review for Trip Advisor and for the great score. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your visit to us and had the chance to shovel coal into the firebox. There is a definite art to firing a steam engine and you can't just put coal anywhere. All those years of... More

I love the Gwili Railway Station, Engines, Coaches and all volunteers and have taken lots of visitors to enjoy a ride, BUT I was really embarrassed about the food delivered to my guests on the Murder Mystery Night - the Risotto was a soggy mixture with uncooked rice thrown in! the pork dish was hard and dried out with no... Thank you for writing us a review on Trip Advisor and I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your evening. There is little I can say that will make things better this far on after the event. Most people enjoyed their food although the creme brulee was a bit of a disaster after the blow torch failed at a critical... More

Bunch of very enthusiastic volunteers making the most of what they have. Visit the signal box and museum as well as the bookshop. There are bigger railways around, but these smaller ones rely on yours and my support. Make a trip if you are in the area.
