Our trip was to visit several castles in Wales so we travelled from Caernarfon making our way south. Carmarthen was the second overnight stop. If you like Castles well worth the visit.

As most reviewers have noted, there isn't a lot of the castle left, but it is a free attraction and a nice way to spend 1/2 hour. The Tourist information bureau is in the castle, and we found them very helpful and friendly. If you...More

We came on a day trip travelling on the steam train Tornado. I had not been to Carmarthen before and was looking forward to seeing the castle. I had seen a programme on Castles on the television just before I left. However, the castle I...More

Having been unable to find any signs or anything helpful as to where the castle is, we just wandered around Carmarthen enjoying the shopping opportunity. Purely by luck did we happen across the 'Castle'. As soon as we realised it was free we knew there...More

Some walls, towers, a visitor center, and not much else. Modern stairways make some of the tower climbing easier but detract from the "castle feel". If you are here or passing, it is worth a stop.

As other reviewers have noted it is just a few walls left. It does however offer an understanding of why it's there and also some wonderful views. A few areas are closed off, shame they don't invest a few pounds to make them accessible.

Apart from the walls, with views over the town and surroundings, there is a small tourist information point and display of the old police station previously housed there

Stumbled on this remaining part of Carmarthen Castle as we walked through the town. There is very little left of it but it burns 20 minutes when you pop inside the tourist information centre to view what is inside there, also there is a Hangman's...More

Sorry, this should read Carmarthen, a typo which unfortunately is hard to rectify.
