The house dedicated to Andrew Jackson (his family actually lived down the street) is interesting and a nice example of life 250 years ago. But my real interest was the US Army Ranger Centre. The Rangers of WWII began here in 1942. The Centre has artifacts that were donated by WWII Rangers. It also plans an expansion this year for... More

Sean was a very good guide and had many stories. As an American it was good to get a Carrickfergus perspective.

I took a study abroad group to the Andrew Jackson Center. We were studying Irish-American history and Irish culture and music. Sean Mac Eachaidh, the center guide, had prepared so well! He'd researched our university -- knew our mascot, our "signature" walk (don't ask), and all about a recent merger and the controversy over it. He even had a CD... More

We visited the Jackson homestead in October this year, having visited Andrew Jackson's home, "The Hermitage" in Nashville in September. I must say that we had an excellent experience. The guide was very friendly and extremely well informed. He had all the facts to hand and was able to give the really interesting back story to the Jackson's moving to... More

I live locally and pass the Cottage daily. With friends staying for the weekend we stopped off and got a guided tour, by Sean, around the wee house and also the Americal military museum. Great stories and mighty craic.

A pleasurable morning visiting this attraction. Our TOUR GUIDE Seán was amazing with a wealth of knowledge and a warm and friendly enthusiasm. He was great craic and made this visit very special for our daughter who is registered blind (and her teddy bear 'Happy'). Offered us tea or coffee which we declined but he sent us on our way... A return visit for me to this local landmark. Whilst I was there a number of different visitors arrived both local and international. The guide Sean was very attentive to everyone but also gave each party time and space to look around and pick up the ambience of the place, which is considerable due to how old it is. It... More

This was a delightful little spot that honored our 7th president whose parents were born just down the road. I was surprised at just how many presidents had family from Ireland. It was run by a charming man who was quite knowledgeable and very friendly. There is a second part of the exhibit dedicated to the Rangers fromWWII. The view... More

Very interesting place to see. Host Sean was exceptionally knowledgable and welcoming. There is also a separate exhibit for the US Rangers, who trained and were stationed in Carrickfergus in WW2. Well worth a visit!
