Coughton Court has been home to the Throckmorton family for 600 years, this finest of Tudor houses stands testament to a family's courage in maintaining their beliefs. From a position of high favour to one of fear and oppression post-Reformation, the Throckmortons were leaders in a dangerous age, helping to bring about Catholic emancipation in the 19th century.

Explore this story of fascinating personalities through the 'family album' of portraits and Catholic treasures around the house. Coughton is still very much a family home with an intimate feel: the Throckmorton family live here, managing the stunning gardens which they have created.

Long term National Trust member & have previously visited Coughton. Not as big an experience as some houses but pleasant location & interesting.(Lovely Christmas Carol singing from local school). But disappointed this time in connection with our specific reason for visit. in other National Trust locations have previously had good Christmas lunch experience. So selected Coughton this time & booked... More

Having arrived in the UK the day after Coughton closed for winter I was very happy when they announced they were opening for a week at the end of November (just before we left). This house is amazing, the history that goes with it also something a lot of people probably do not know about. Do yourself a favour and... More

We travelled for almost an hour to visit the Christmas market at Coughton Court. Sadly we found the experience disappointing. This not a free event as you have pay £7.80 each to gain access to the market. As we had made the journey we opted to pay the ticket price as we were told we could visit the gardens in... More

Unfortunately I can't give a review of this venue ... when I arrived there at lunchtime today, I was told I could not go in until 3 pm. I was trying to visit a venue 150 miles from home, and needed to be half way down the motorway by that time. So I can only be negative about the National... More

Visited today and we were very impressed with the Christmas decorations. Mainly natural materials put together by Becky the manager and her team. There are impressive points of detail including Santa's wellies in the hall, scarves round trees and a garden shed full of hand crafted toys. This is a beautiful place at the best of times but very special... More

Coughton court is heaving with history and is a fascinating place to visit, both architecturally and historically. They go big on the house's integral role in the gunpowder plot and every room illuminates the plotters themselves and how they related to each other, the plot itself and the country as a whole. It's a through telling of the tale and... More

The building is very interesting architecturally and the gardens were good to walk round even though it was late Ocober. The buildings connections with the gunpowder plot are well presented and add extra interest for children.

Made a late afternoon visit to Coughton Court and were pleased that we did. We were able to get tickets for last tour of the day, and took advantage of the waiting time to visit the cafe and gardens. The gardens are lovely - well tended and varied. Staff were keen to share their knowledge and took time to explain... More

Visited based on the recommendation of staff at our hotel near Broadway. Excellent recommendation. Striking house inside and out. Overflowing with history. Docents were exceptionally knowledgeable and obliging in answering our many questions. We loved it. Even the rain at the top of the tower could not dampen our enthusiasm. Highly recommended.
