This is one of the National Trusts gems. We went out os season so there were not grounds. I strongly recommend as this can be very busy in peak season. Also the paths down to the lake can be steep and it is a long...More

Let me start by saying that this is a review of the restaurant only, NOT the House and Garden which are truly spectacular. We called in at Stourhead or a refreshment break on our way to visit family in East Somerset. There was plenty of...More

We visited during the week.Weather was iffy. Stourhead exceeded all expectations . We have visited lots of national trust properties and always enjoy the day but stourhead and particularly Harry's story brought the visit to a whole new level. The house had some really knowledgeable...More

The formal gardens must be the best in England. Centred around large lake with many marvellous old trees and views of temples and grottos from many vantage points. Even the family of swans on the lake creating V formations in the water added to the...More

Stourhead Estate is wonderful with an amazing walk around the lake with all the small temples and photogenic landscaping. What a sane about the National Trust cafe by the main car park. Massively overpriced serving poor quality food with a lot to be desired. Perhaps...More

Walked from the car park to King Alfred's tower with the two dogs. The views were great and the footpaths well kept.

We are NT members but, for those of you who aren't, this is the place which will make you sign up! The house is a Palladian mansion and the guides are knowledgeable but not too full on (I get guideophobia in these places). The grounds...More

Unfortunately no dogs are allowed into the grounds until 4pm. I don't know why this is but there are signs at the start and around the park saying this.
