We attended Graham Harvey's charming play "No Finer Life" and were really impressed with the theatre. Volunteer staff were delightful and when I expressed mild disappointment that fizzy lager was the only beer on offer, they went out to the shops and got some real ales in! Don't get service like that very often in the 21st century.

This venue is run entirely by volunteers so that in itself makes it worth supporting They are doing a good job of restoring the building and expanding it And have an expending programme of events Hopefully it will continue to improve and become the heart of the town

We been to many great shows here. Also as we don't have a cinema in town they have a cinema club and show up-to-date films

My family and I have enjoyed attending a number of shows here over the last year, always fun and entertaining, including a pantomime, my first in my 67 years and I was lucky enough to have all my children and grandchildren there as well. There was no `hanky panky` with widow twanky and the last show we attended was `Calamity... More

We have visited the Athenaeum several times now, mostly for theatrical shows and sometimes for music. It is a wonderfully kept old theatre, small enough to be personal but big enough to get the full 'theatre experience'. It is very well run by the team of passionate volunteers, and I am yet to be disappointed with a production. The Athenaeum... More

Very comfortable theatre staffed by wonderful volunteers who have kept it beautifully. The show was mainly teenagers part of a group to encourage participation from all walks of life, an the show was fine. Some numbers better than others. Overall... More

My partner and I came here with my parents for the Two Plays and a Pudding night. The theatre was very well restored, easy to navigate and friendly staff (and great home made puddings/cakes!). Would visit again.

We love this perfect little theatre with all the work the volunteers have so daringly lavished. The fundraising they have achieved to redo foyer, and bar as well as Gallery is fantastic as an achievement. AsOne Theatre Company regularly brings new theatre pieces to this receiving theatre. The volunteers who run the Athenaeum both front of house and technician crew are... More
