I hadn't been on a bike for many years but thoroughly enjoyed cycling the easy Monsal trail. Lots of bikes to choose from at the Hassop station bike hire, we took them for two hours and could have gone on longer. Great fun!

We chose to walk part of the Monsal trail as we were travelling with 2 young kids and a dog and thought it would be a bit difficult with multiple bicycle trailers. We started out at Hassop station and walked towards Monsal Head, past the...More

All in all its about a 9 mile walk. There are a couple of cafés around the trail but I would advise to take snacks and a drink with you.

A great day out. Parked at Hassop station/cafe. We ate here before our walk - very nice - will do a separate review for that. And did a lovely circular walk taking in part of the trail (including the impressive Headstone Tunnel and Monsal Viaduct).......More

We are trying to get fitter, honest. It's an absolutely beautiful track, well maintained with stunning scenery. If you are looking for a great ride you should start at Bakewell Station and ride to Wye. It's a slight incline all the way, but fresh legs...More

We are from Spain and everytime we fly to the East Midlands, we drive to Monsal head for a day out. The scenery is breathtaking and if you walk down there is a place with beautiful waterfalls.

I would say yes if you have a well behaved dog who will come to you when called. The issue is the cyclists who don't let you know they are coming up behind you! I have walked and cycled along here with my dog off the lead... More
