As others have commented, this is one of those little gems you might otherwise miss. Our main reason for coming to the area was the stunning Chatsworth, and we had intended to do Haddon Hall the next day. However, the hall was shut so we went into Bakewell and headed for the musuem. Parking can be tricky in the city,... More

There is a small gift shop and the staff are realy friendly and let you walk around unsupervised. Theres a slight climb up and its situated near the... More

The property itself is a Time capsule filled with the memories of the local townspeople. Well worth the climb up the steep Hill.

This place needs more visitors, so do go if you get the chance! There is plenty to see, it is a rather small museum but they do have a lot of very interesting artefacts. The house itself has an extensive history. The staff were extremely welcoming also.

My friend an I had a wonderful day out in Bakewell and thoroughly enjoyed visiting here. It was a very quiet day so didn't take us long to get round so only spent about an hour here. Would recommend however I do feel it's more set up for school educational visits.

Set above the main centre in a lovely part of the old town the museum is worth a visit. The enthusiatic and welcoming staff are really clued up on the history of the building and the town and the museum has a great tale to tell.

From J Boy of Derby Very interesting small museum packed with history of Bakewell and surrounding areas of the Peak District Well worth the walk up the hill and yes the hill is steep but the museum is tucked away at the back of the church which in itself is well worth a visit. The self guided tour starts with... More
