We were staying in Portmarnock hotel and went for a walk along beach. It was a very windy day and the waves were crashing their way in and out. Fresh air at its best. You really feel so good after the walk. Love it. Will go back in the summer.

Grew up here so I'm biased but this beach is second to none. About 5 miles in length so great for walking/running. Also pathway between Portmarnock and Malahide. Great views, beautiful beach!!

The actual name of this beach is Portmarnock Velvet Strand. This is the best beach in Dublin with miles of unspoiled clean stretches. It is perfect for strolling along at any time of the day. I went there twice - once post our lunch at the Portmarnock Resort, and then on the next morning. The weather was extremely pleasant for... More

The Velvet Strand, three miles of unbroken sand. Stunning views of Howth Head, Ireland's Eye and Lambay Island. To be honest you'd pay big money to fly to the continent for views like this! If only the weather would cooperate more often. Amazing dunes, great for the kids or to walk the dog. Magnificent beach, the nicest in Dublin by... More

Walk solo, bring the kids, the dogs - I always bring visiting friends down to the beach regardless of the weather! Fabulous views of Ireland's Eye, Howth, Lambay Island and out towards Portrane and Donabate. Long or short walks depending on your mood on the day. Magnificent early morning and late evening. If you are lucky the bats or hawks... More

Such a wonderful place to walk and forget the world around you. Perfect place to unwind ad stroll for as long as you need as when the tide is out the beach is lovely and wide. Very clean and dog friendly as well as kids of all ages, even the grown up ones.

Malahide has lovely pubs / restaurants and Castle. Lots to do and see or sit at the marina and watch the boats. A trip to Howth is well worthwhile. Beautiful fish restaurants, cafes and ice-cream parlours. We even saw the seals.
