The area is mostly ruins, but it gives you the opportunity to see the skeletons of an historically significant Fort. The views of the harbor and city are incredible. There are a few small exhibits within the area. Where comfortable shoes, and bring a jacket. The area is very windy and can get chilly.

We walked to here from Kinsale, was a cloudy but dry day and really enjoyed the surroundings. The Castle itself is just off the road with ample parking, coach tours stop here also, entry fee is €5 per adult but no need to go inside as you can walk around the outside for free.

Visited here by accident when we were in Kinsale last weekend. Just driving around and noticed it. Even though it was closed we were able to walk around a bit of it but views are spectacular. Well worth a visit!

Amazing location and views. The videos are well worth viewing as they provide so much of the history of the fort over hundreds of years. Tour guides (Brendan) was very helpful in identifying an Irish tune used in one the videos so we could secure the sheet music. If you go on the 1st Wednesday of the month, the entrance... More

This is great place to visit on a nice day, great history behind it. The young kids would love climbing on and down the wall fronts looking out at the sea, also lovely place for picnic plenty of places inside the fort for kids to have fun and mess in safety. Audio tour and guides available also

Fantastic experience thoroughly enjoyed it . Very educational. Scenery is beautiful and the entrance fee very reasonable. Only downside not wheelchair friendly. The coffee shop was lovely.

Lovely welcome, other than the tearoom I don't see much work / change since our last visit about 12 yrs ago apart from a tea room. This place lends itself to being a fantastic museum.

This was an easy walk from town. The structure is well-kept and fabulous! Make sure to stop at Bullmers for a pint when you walk back to town

The Fort was top of our list. We were not disappointed. It's impressive and the entrance staff were very helpful is giving us a quick breakdown of what there was to see. We just arrived from Dublin so the toilets were a very welcome first stop. Really clean and tidy too. We wandered through the fort soaking up the history,... More
