Paul led nine of us down hidden trails into the magical Derryclare Wood and gave us an intimate guided tour of special places in this beautiful little forest, first allowing us to sit in silence as we absorbed the wonder of it. He then found...More

My wife and I engaged Paul for a strenuous full day hike (Maumahoige to Maumeen) last week. Given the trail was mostly unmarked and given the unpredictable weather, we were glad we used a professional mountaineer (Paul) to do the hike. He provided frequent instruction...More

My husband and I met up with Paul in front of O'Dowds Cafe in Roundstone not really knowing what we should expect. Our teen daughter had decided against the walk due to a minor leg injury the day before. Our 4 hour hike across Roundstone...More

Thanks for your review and recommendation. Thanks also for emphasising the need for strong boots with ankle support and grip. Its really good of you to spread the word; Maumahoige such a beautiful introductory mountain hike!

Many thanks for sharing your experience. It was great for me to learn from you about that ice mill that you spotted; I am on the look out for more features like that - including that interesting giants face stone shape!

You can make different walks, the longest being around 2 hours, in this beautiful National park. The longest walk brings you on top of a hill from which you see many different type of landscapes (ocean, hills, one abbay and a lake).

We booked with Paul Phelan, and took his suggestion of doing the Mweelin Horseshoe in Connemara. Paul was in touch before the hike to suggest a different day which might have better weather - and this turned out to be the case, and we had...More
