Cahergall and Leacanabuaile Ring Forts sit quite near to each other just off the main Ring of Kerry route near Cahersiveen. These ancient stone forts have been preserved through the ages partially because of their association with fairy lore (and certainly you don't want to...More

Our B&B hosts recommended a visit to this fort. It is a well preserved fort easily accessible via paved paths through a farmer's pasture.. A visit to this sight and the nearby Leacanabuaile Fort are free. The top of the thick walls are flat and...More

Just a short walk from the car park, (you can actually see this fort from the road), is this quite impressive fort. It is not everyday that three historical sites are in such close proximity, 2 forts and a castle, definitely worth a look when...More

Of all the forts (4) that we looked at this was the best one....Gives a good look at how high they were whereas the others are lower with no rebuilding to what they once were. By all means look at the others but don't miss...More

This is one of two stone forts within walking distance of each other. The other being Leacanabuaile. Its worth taking in both if only for the spectacular scenery.

If you have any interest in history you have to visit this site, when you are in the area. Excellently restored and maintained.

We saw several stone forts in Ireland, and this was probably the best one. It has been reconstructed some, but it's quite impressive.

Great little place to visit, follow the signs from Cahersiveen to the old forts and eventually continue down the road until you find the car park on the side of the road. From here you can access two forts and both aren't too far. There...More

Fantastic location for some real hero pictures. Admire the scenery.Walk up the big wall, hang on a finger of your choice and click away. Of course you can walk up and around the wall and think about the people that lived here long, long time...More
