Great place to visit for a family with kids. So much to explore and visit. My wife fell in love with the walled garden, while the kids loved the exploring which is almost endless. The Italian garden blew me away. I could have sat in there for hours. I would thoroughly recommend a visit. It's only a short boat trip... More

We visited this island approximately six years ago, and it was one of the highlights of our holiday -- a beautiful mix of various plants, trees and artitecture. We (myself and family) revisited Glengarriff in July 2016, but we didn't have time to go over to the island. I would strongly recommend a visit.

A wonderful place to visit and I've been back many times. Lovely trip on the boat with chatty boatman. Saw the seal colony and then onto the island. Rhododendron were out of season in July but everything else in full bloom. Finished off with homemade apple crumble cake.

The garden on Garnish Island is deservedly famous for over half a century. This year's visitors have the added opportunity to visit the house built for the gardener. But the Brice family who had commissioned the construction of the exotic gardens, ended up living in the gardener's house. Their fortune was invested in Russia, and they lost it following the... Cannot recommend this island more - went there with 4 kids under 12 years of age, had not heard of it till I went there and it is stunning. Ferry companies bring you around Seal Island also which is great for the kids. Flawless location, beautifully kept and jaw-dropping views of the bay. Highly recommend.

We went to garnish on a rainy day. Took the short 15 min ferry trip across to the island. The driver stopped a few times to point out seals and an eagle so we could take pictures. The island is full of beautiful gardens and on a sunny day would be a great experience. We took the tour of the... More

Our visit happened to coincide with August Bank Holiday, the busiest day in the height of the tourist season. Even so, once we got past the throngs leaving the ferries, we were enchanted by the resurrected gardens and the views from the island.

The island is being reclaimed from wilderness and sections of it have been restored to near its original glory. The original owners had an amazing vision of how to bring nature into focus with rare trees and plants that could thrive in this miscrocosmic climate. Very worth exploring. Boat ride out from the Blue Pool is most interesting. Seals sunning... More

It was a very beautiful garden with a temple from Greece, an Italian garden, a happy valley, a round tower and a walled garden. On the way to the island you have the choice to see seals. The boat trip to the island is not cheap but very beautiful.
