We visited here whilst in Killaloe and were delighted to find it open. It is beautiful inside with lots of history that is all documented on information boards. It is very old and the history interesting.

It wasn't open on the Monday we were there, but we strolled around the grounds. They are lovely; the signage was pretty good; the history impressive.

A small cathedral in the centre of Killaloe. Open to the public every day. Lots of small items inside and quite quaint. Dates back to the early 1100s

The Church of Ireland follows the Anglican tradition and has a strong congregation in Killaloe. We were made very welcome, and gained much from the Dean's sermon. The Dean doubles as the local vicar, hailing from South Africa, which was a surprise.

We stumbled across the cathedral and were delighted by it. The entrance has an ancient stone with inscriptions in runes and ogham dating from circa 1000 A.D.

Steeped in history, the cathedral is a must when visiting killaloe. Located right on the river and overlooking the twin town of ballina.
