I found this place by accident. I had to ask in the café where I was. In 1979 it was a nice, quiet town. Few tourists. I loved it because no one I met spoke English, and there were no Americans. I had a 2 man tent and camped on weekends at the far end of the beach. My ship, USS LaSalle AGF-3, was in Naples from May to September and every weekend I didn't have duty, I was in Torregaveta. I met some great people there who accepted me because I spoke SOME Italian. In 1985 I was on the USS Nimitz CVN-68 when we pulled into Naples. My first liberty, I was on the train heading for Torregaveta. Ran into some people I had met 6 years before. There is no choice when I visited so I LIED. I did NOT visit in May of 2018, I was there MAY- SEPTEMBER of 1979 and in September of 1985.

No Tourists, no drunks, just peace. A fantastic place to live. I have many friends in Torregaveta and love the place. A small sandy beach and a 300 meters ponti that local people and people from far afield fish for thier lunch. There is a lovely bar owned by a friend which is cheap and very clean. But unfortunately, this place is only known to Italians. Though being bias, I wouldn't want it opened up to tourist, I think it would be spoilt. I have just left there and long to return providing my wife is given the all clear to travel again. Woinderful place and wonderful people. Torregaveta has its own station to Naples and a bus service to Monte di Procida and Naples. Lots of things to see around the area.

Lovely seaside town. Restaurant at the top of the hill is sumptuous. Would return in a minute, oh wait, I'm going back in November.

This little spot is always busy! So I avoid the crowds with a sunset visit , it's spectacular ! You can get there by train on the cumana line and they have parking. It's a great place for an evening drink and to watch the sunset!
