This is a place anyone visit cook island must stop see and know the history. You must read or get a tour in the tuk tuk carl will explain well.A must for any body.

I have to agree with Deniece K, and I am not even Polynesian. I do however have an interest in Polynesian culture and history, and find it quite bizarre that a place of so much significance has so little importance placed on it. Avana Passage, its significance & history of the waka leaving for Aotearoa is definitely not well represented!! Well done to the carver for the CARVING portraying the migration of the waka to Aotearoa. The circle of stones with each waka named. Wow.. not much to say but SAD.. point of origin for the departure of the canoes that sailed to new zealand, also provides a departure point for boaties, and has a great church accross the road
