Took a private tour by Nanan's tours. Lester Nanan was my guide. Got me close me close enough to use a 400mm lens on most species. Extremely knowledgeable chap who is a keen naturalist himself. Comfortable boat and took his time to get me what I needed, pay for a private 4-5hr tour and get a personal experience you won't... More

The Caroni sanctuary is located close to Port of Spain and not too far from the airport. Heading south on the Uriah Butler highway, exit left, drive over the highway and you get to the area where the boats leave from. The highway exit as well as directions are now marked with signs on the left side of the roads.... More

The boat tours through caroni are a great experience! We got to see snakes (from a far distance), scarlet ibis, flamingos, and even more all in their natural habitat. The boat ride was cool, perfect climate and it never got boring. This is probably one of the few tours in Trinidad that I wouldn't mind doing again.

Located on the west side of the Uriah Butler highway just south of the Caroni bridge, this destination is ideal for nature seekers that would like to quickly be able to take in wildlife from a safe location. There are an abundance of crabs, snakes, caimans and other small swamp creatures to view on your way to the spectacular arrival... More

If you want to see a Scarlet Ibis-this is the place! The tour lasts about 2 hr. The cost is very reasonable (60TTD=9USD) per person. It's a evening-catch the sunset and watch the birds come back to roost for the evening kind of trip. Quite frankly-it was spectacular. The tour accommodates to all - from small children to adult to... More

We visited the bird sanctuary using Nanan's tours. Price is $50 per person and kids $35. It's not exactly worth your money. The evening tours are the best because you would get to see the birds flying to go to roost. The boat is average basically just benches but it's comfortable. This was enjoyable.

I had long heard this was a great place. You go in a small boat down a long mangrove swamp. The trees are very tall, with roots reaching to the water. It was very still, so everything was reflected in the water. We saw a couple of snakes wrapped around low branches. Many kinds of birds were flying around. The... More

Ahhh the serenity... this place is so beautiful... nature at its finest. This is my absolute most favorite place to go especially when I'm stressed. Sailing through the mangroves, down the river to the ocean, this view never ceases to amaze me... I swear it looks like something out of a movie. Ohhh and that sunset <3 The stillness of... More

I went through Nanan tours. It was a good value for the amount of time and number of animals I saw. It is difficult, expensive, or both to get here from Port of Spain without your own vehicle, but well-worth the trek to see this natural wonder. I saw boas, silky anteaters, herons, parrots, and of course, the magnificent scarlet... More

As usual the trip was fantastic. This was 5th or 6th trip over the last 15years. This time I took my niece who is now 15years old. Unfortunately the tour operator (Nanan's) seems to not have sufficient tour operators as we had to share one tour guide between two overcrowded boats. There should be a clear indication of the number... More
