We arranged our own driver Mr Alek, to drive us to Cheow Lan Dam in May . A good scenic drive from Khao Lak, that took about 2 hours. We arrived at the wharf of Cheow Lan Son, and our driver then arranged a long...More

The view was beautiful enough. Though I think the boats actually ruined the view but apart from that, just magnificent.

This place is utterly stunning! It is a real must see before it gets too busy. It is expensive (by Thai standards) but the day trip on the lake is so worth while. It reminded me so much of Halong Bay in Vietnam it wasn't...More

We boated out onto the lake seeing one amazing sculptural rock after another and visited a floating group of huts and restaurant. Took a kayak out and swam. Hiked to a cave--all wonderful, naturally beautiful and interesting. Well worth the effort to get here.

We enjoyed three of trips on the lake, once to reach our floating hotel, and then a couple of trips for birdwatching. The lake was empty of people most of the time and a pleasure cruise.

Stayed at Klong Saeng, far far away from anywhere. The lake and karst hills are very scenic and the jungles still thick and mostly undamaged by people. Nice to wake up in the morning listening to the birds and gibbons. Saw all sorts of game...More

I am sure you can arrange a trip from your hotel. I wouldn’t try and hire a boat for 2 you can get enjoyment from a full long boat which is only about 16/18 people and shouldn’t spoil your enjoyment Enjoy

Ask at your hotel, for me they booked a place in a shared van. I'm sure that you can also book a private car or taxi but it costs around 1200-1400.
