It's like a Disneyland attraction, one that is controlled by humans—turn it ON, turn it OFF. We looked from a distance and never got wet. Others raved, but we found it quite ordinary. It does flow quite strongly when it get going.

You can see the waterfalls will "full speed" twice a day - plus its length depends on the season, month and on the day. On working days this period is shorter, longest during festivals. It is better to visit during afternoon if you want sun to shine on the falls to have nice pictures.

I've seen waterfalls before but because this is one that they turn off and on, I was very curious abut how the water interacted with the surrounding environment, how it ran over the lush plants etc. If I'd planned in advance I would have known to take a waterproof of some sort - we did get soaked! It's like rain... More

Go to the website to check the opening times for the location and the times when they open the sluices to let the water from the lake above cascade dramatically down the falls. I managed to keep our party of 6 'in the dark' about where I was taking them so they hardly noticed the small trickle of water from... More

I enjoyed visiting this giant waterfall; we saw it in action. We bought cheap ponchos, but didn't in the end need them, if you don't mind a bit of spray here and there. Only the balcony at the end of the tunnel is really wet. I didn't really understand why the water would prefer to fall off this ledge, and... More

The reason I went to Italy, Umbria and Terni. So, so worthwhile, a delight, I could live there permanently; so mesmerising and beautiful; the power of the waters, the beauty of the rainbows. Go and see. It is a monument to natural beauty AND to human's ability to harness nature, even in 3rd C Roman Empire. Magnificent. Spend at least... More

I recommend to go before they open the flow of water. It is amazing seeing the water flow increasing from that dripping flow to all the power of the waterfall. We entered from the lower entrance and walked up all the trail admiring the power of nature along the way. It is tireing going up especially with a child on... More

We visited in September and there were no queues. The "opening times" refer to the periods when water is diverted from hydroelectric plant over the falls. The difference in the force and volume is amazing. I would recommend parking in the lower carpark and walking up to the upper viewpoint with the aim of being there just before "opening time"... The Cascata can be reached from two points, we went to both as we arrived just before the water closing so we started at the top, went for lunch and a swim, then returned to the lower entrance. I recommend the latter as there is more parking space and a nice area where you can relax and admire the falls.... More
