We have hiked in many locations the US, in particular Colorado and Oregon, Norway and Chile, and this was as nice a hike as any we have had. The weather was perfect, which always helps, and the variety of lakes, river rapids, meadows, and forests was wonderful. As a bonus we saw 5 small herds (4-7) of caribou on the... More

This place is so amazing! Several trails to choose from, you can go around for a few hours and enjoy the view, stop to barbecue some food, use the communal campfire, wood deposit and tools - just dont forget to chop some wood and leave the fire on for whoever comes next! If you wish to get to know it... More

There a cafeteria, good water toilets and a free nature exhibition in Oulanka National Park Visitor Center. Remember to check opening hours. However, the best part of this visitor center is that you get tons of information about nature trails on the area. The most popular and the shortest trail leads to the wonderful Kiutaköngäs Rapids (1 kilometer there and... More

We did the little bear trail in July 2015. Should be a short hike of 10 km. We couldn't believe it: it took us 4 hours mostly due to the enormous "traffic" on small paths where only one person can walk on at a time. It is a nice walk, there is water, there is a mill, there are fireplaces...... More

The people who work here are very kind and helpful, they'll provide you all the info you wish and they have some really useful tips. Like this one: when you do the Pieni Karhunkierros, walk the trail CLOCKWISE! Just East of the Kallioportti lookout point there's a 253 step flight of stairs, which you'd prefer to go down of course.... More

This entry should really be about the main attraction, the Oulanka Natural Park, rather than just the visitor centre. The park itself is big extending well beyond the centre and incredibly diverse in its natural beauty. The photographs available in the public domain are good evidence. But the people working at the centre are also very dedicated and helpful. Aside... More

We visited Oulanka National Park during our Finland tour. We stay at camping area close to visitor center. I really can recomend stay at there. Park it self has great day walks. We rented canoe from camping area and paddled Oulanka river for 7 hours. We saw variety of wildlife such as birds of many kinds and reindeers. We even... More
