When you turn off the highway on the road to Rocklands you will likely think you made a mistake, but press on you will get there and it is worth the trip.Feeding the Doctorbird hummingbird by hand from a small bottle of sugar-water is a once-in-a-lifetime thrill.

An absolute gem, hidden about three miles above Montego Bay. If your into birds can pick up most endemic species here Dr Bird, Mango hummingbird,Jamaican owl and woodpecker.J Oriole. If not the pleasure of feeding humming birds in such a spectacular setting from your fingers is magical. Guide also very knowledgeable and friendly. $20 well spent.

We spent about an hour feeding the Doctor Birds and watching the other birds and small animals (lizards), Fritz was very helpful, and showed us all kinds of plants, shrubs and trees on the property. Quite interesting and informative! If visiting with kids (we did) it's better to explain to them upfront that they're going to interact with wild birds... More

We really enjoyed our visit to Rockland Bird Sanctuary last Tuesday (April 4). I'd been looking for something fairly short that my less mobile father-in-law could experience during the time off of our cruise ship. He and my mother-in-law enjoyed it a lot as did my husband and I. I am always looking for unique places and this was that... More

Our experience at the Rockland Bird Sanctuary was priceless. To have beautiful hummingbirds sitting on your finger, drinking out of a bottle of sweet water that you're holding.....just awesome. The sanctuary itself is very modest, nothing flashy. The host is the same. He is, however, filled with knowledge and skill in bringing the birds in. Our group had 7 people... More

Spent a couple of hours here one morning photographing the birds. They have many bird feeders that attract quite a few species. Several hummingbirds, doves, potoo, grassquits, orangequit, etc.

Awesome little mountain top paradise. My husband is a big Birder, which usually involves long hikes. I enjoyed the opportunity to sit on a beautiful veranda and let the birds come to us!! My husband saw 16 different species to add to his life list. Fritz was quite a character and very knowledgeable. This is a small non commercialized experience.... More

My wife insisted that we visit here as she had been here over 40 years previously. The owner at that time had passed away, but she remembered it vividly. Located in the hills above Montego Bay, it is not the easiest to find unless you are with a guide as we were. The area is extremely restful and serene and... More

If you enjoy natural history/wildlife viewing this venue offers an unforgettable experience. View numbers endemic birds at the feeders and hand feed two endemic hummingbird species. Fritz is a great host and will tell you all about the birds and local area. Not to be missed!

We visited during the week and were the only visitors there. If you are in no hurry, there are hammocks on the upper deck for lounging. The only sound you will hear are the birds and there are plenty of them. Well worth the trip up the mountain.
