We pre-booked as you cannot just turn up for this place as it is a private home. You will be escorted around the property by the owner. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and listening to the owner and how she came to own the property. A lot of the rooms are as they were when the film 'Atonement'was filmed there... More

A very "personal" tour , you really felt that you could live here! An insight into the machinations of the film world - the house was used in Atonement and the history of a house built at the end of the 1800 that went through two World Wars and has to adapt to modern day. Take in the gardens for... More

As a fan of the film Atonement I had admired the house and gardens but had no idea it was so close to where I now live. It was a privilege to be shown around the house, which is still a family home, and the film was brought to life by the excellent, very informative tour guide. But it's not... More

Stokesay Court (not to be confused with Stokesay Castle about 4 miles away) is a privately owned manor house. Built by John Derby Allcroft (a wealthy retired glove manufacturer) who had to wait 18 years to secure the site of his house. He'd bought a couple of local estates (including the one incorporating Stokesay Castle) but his ideal site was... More

Firstly be careful, Stokesay Court is not the same as Stokesay Castle; they are a couple of miles apart. Stokesay Court is famous as the place where the film Atonement was set. It is a beautiful house and deserves a visit. A lovely gentleman guided us round the house and explained all the nuances of the filming as well as... More

Stokesay Court is known to many by its use in the film Atonement. However a closer look is available for those who book one of the visits organised twice a week in the summer. This splendid Victorian mansion, with what must be one of the finest views from a property in the county, is in private hands The owner is... More

You'll Need to arrange your visit in advance, it's well worth it for a tour led by a local historian which is most informative & very interesting. It's amazing the house is privately owned. The owner joins tours when they partake in tea & cake at the end & before one is free to roam the extensive grounds.

Pre booked tours only, no good turning up on the off chance. A dour and forboding entrance and courtyard lightly sprinkled with earnest visitors, not the best first impression after a long approach through landscaped parkland. However this wasn't your average 'National Trust' pristine and manicured destination, something much more interesting. The knowledgable and entertaining guide gave us a pocket... More

PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE Stokesay Court with Stokesay Castle. Stokesay Court is a Victorian mansion which is in the process of being refurbished by its current owner, Caroline Magnus. As has been mentioned, the mansion was used as one of the sets for the 2007 film, 'Atonement', and, by watching the first 40 minutes or so of the movie, you... More

Visited Sunday 22nd March for the Daffodil Day If I'm honest we were both very diasapointed. The house and gardens we thought were neglected and a bit shabby. The timing of the day for a display of daffodils should have been revised for a few weeks time as there where hardly any out. Just about worth the £4.00 entrance fee.... More
