I feel like this was a hidden gem. We enjoyed the Chateau and the grounds partly because it is not overwhelming and not crowded. There is great history and the staff seem very passionate and love to share tips and knowledge with you. It was a bit difficult to find, partly because it is off the beaten path and mostly... More

The Chateau Malmaison of Napoleon & Josephine is a very attractive home with lovely artworks and furniture. It is also much less crowded than a venue like Versailles which makes touring it very relaxing and enjoyable. Definitely worth the time and cost of a tour.

Malmaison is a well preserved Chateau purchased by Empress Josephine in 1799. Although originally encompassing thousands of acres it now is probably less than one hundred, The home has many, many beautiful possessions of Napoleon and Josephine, tapestry, furniture, sculptures, paintings, dishes, etc. I enjoyed walking in Josephine's Rose Garden.

We visited Malmaison during a recent cruise on the Seine. The house is well-preserved although most of the furnishings aren't original but came from other houses owned by Napoleon. With our guide ( provided by the cruise company) we got a good insight into the connection with Napoleon Bonaparte and his wife Joséphine. You see a good selection of rooms,... More

The chateau is beautifully laid out with furnished rooms and lots of paintings. We had a very knowledgeable guide who brought the history of the place to life, and presented in an interesting way. I would recommend a visit, but don't expect beautifully laid out formal gardens

I visited here 9 years ago and called this site a national disgrace. That is all changed now. everything, including the rose gardens, have been refurbished. If you enjoy Napoleon and history, this is a must do.

It's a little out of the centre of Paris, but make the effort if you're interested in decorative art, paintwork, colour and style. This is where Napoleon and Josephine lived and the series of rooms are a total delight.

I visited Malmaison primarily to see the exhibition of Josephine's wardrobe, which was a small exhibit at the end of the tour of the château. The recorded tour was a bit dry, and I was disappointed that much was not original (furniture brought from the Tuilleries, rooms enlarged, etc.). Part of the building was under renovation, as was a portion... More

Visited the Chateau on our last day prior to leaving France. we were on the Paris to Normandy Viking River Cruise. We visited in November 2016 so this was a tour we got in lieu of visiting gardens that weren't in bloom at this time. Beautiful structure, many artifacts, some original, some just period. all rooms were magnificent and had... More

The chateau is set in gardens and woods which are great to explore on a hot summers day and rest in the shade of the trees. Unfortunatelt they were busy building things so not everything was available. Architecture of the house was very interesting.
