This is a great hike along the nature and heritage trail that runs from the village of Akra to the village of Ferkingstad. Cultural and historical monuments lie in abundance between Akra and the boathouse ruins at Hop. The hike starts in the north end of the beach at Akra. From here you can enjoy the view of the white beaches stretching along the shore. The hike follows a natural path, and along here you can see and sense a rich fauna and birdlife. On the south end of the beach the tour continues over to a historical area, dating back to the Viking Age. Here you will see stone monuments symbolizing the two daughters of King Augvald, one of our Viking kings. The tour continues to Ferkingstad beach, another beach worth seeing. Afterwards you will walk to the charming boat harbour, built in the 1960’s. You will also visit the boathouse ruins, used by the Vikings to drag their ships ashore. The tour finishes at Fisherman’s Memorial, a monument symbolizing local fishermen who lost their lives at sea.

This is a perfect place to spend a sunny day, but remember to get here early, because it's very popular on warm days.

We were blown away by the beauty of these beaches. We weren't expecting white sand beaches in Norway! We walked along the coastal heritage path - stunning scenery.

Unexpected beaches in Norway, with white sand and transparent waters. Very good access and clean toilets and accessible toilets.

Stunning part of Norway - stunning beaches and scenery. We visited on a warm day in March and it was lovely with a touch of chill from the sea breeze. In Summer i presume it would be a great place to spend a few hours.

I live on this island and I've been travelling the world but you won't find beaches more beautyful than this. To bad the climate is a bit cold and you can rarely take a bath without freezing half to death.

I recomend to go to Sandvesanden even though it's further. It's a small, lovely beach, with beautiful view.

The beaches on Karmøy are very clean, with shellsand that is extremly soft and comfortable. The weather is usually rough, and the water temperature is low, as this is the norther sea. But for walks, and relaxsation these beaches are perfect.

Absolutely stunning beaches in Norway. Water is a bit cold, but not much colder than in So Cal. Lovely to sit and contemplate, or to dip your feet in the water.

Hi there I am not sure where the cruise ships dock but we were very lucky with the weather as it didn't rain and it was very warm however Norway is known for rain it would probably be around 23 degrees Fahrenheit. haugesand... More
