This is a great hike along the nature and heritage trail that runs from the village of Akra to the village of Ferkingstad. Cultural and historical monuments lie in abundance between Akra and the boathouse ruins at Hop. The hike starts in the north end of the beach at Akra. From here you can enjoy the view of the white beaches stretching along the shore. The hike follows a natural path, and along here you can see and sense a rich fauna and birdlife. On the south end of the beach the tour continues over to a historical area, dating back to the Viking Age. Here you will see stone monuments symbolizing the two daughters of King Augvald, one of our Viking kings. The tour continues to Ferkingstad beach, another beach worth seeing. Afterwards you will walk to the charming boat harbour, built in the 1960’s. You will also visit the boathouse ruins, used by the Vikings to drag their ships ashore. The tour finishes at Fisherman’s Memorial, a monument symbolizing local fishermen who lost their lives at sea.

This is a beautiful clear beach with lovely blue water. We took a few snaps and sat on the beach. The water was a bit cold to swim. There isn't much nearby in terms of food / shops; so come prepared.

The Bahamas has nothing on these beautiful beaches! Absolutely Europes finest! And as of last month, they have the blue flag certification, demanding strict environmental, safety and quality regulations! A must-see when visiting Haugalandet.

Åkrasanden receives blue flag. Clean water, good evironment, nice paths for walking and also for wheelchairs make this a very nice summer place. Take the tour on a sunny summer day, or a stormy winter day. This beach is just a few hundred meters away...More

White sands forever stretch on forever. Plenty of crystal clear waters and boating access. Also wheelchair accessible.

At the southern tip of Karmoy this little town shines. The well preserved timber cottages gives this town historical charm as you stroll through the tiny streets of Skudeneshavn. View the old timber houses plotted along the waters edge is one of Norway's best -...More

Nice and only sandy beaches nearby Haugesund with some seaweeds (unfortunately) washed onto the sand. Water is really chilly so wetsuits are recommended. Many spots between the rocks giving good shelter during windy days. Apparently perfect place for kite surfing
