I have been coming to Calderglen for many years and it remains a firm favourite for a nice walk or day out with the family. Castle is pretty as is the glen itself and the children's play park and zoo are also excellent.

Well marked hiking trails for people of all ages and abilities. Lots of parking space. Dog friendly routes. Also suitable for running. Cafe with reasonable priced lunches / cakes and beverages. Within walking distance from McDonald Crutherland Hotel.

I can't talk about the zoo or the visitor centre, but the castle trail is a neglected, unwalkable mess. Shame on South Lanarkshire Council.
