Excellent and peculiar castle. Only Versailles comes to mind as a rough analogy. Besides the castle, the complex includes church, orangery and park. The courtyard has chairs, there are concerts under the open sky. There is a restaurant and hotel - in fact, quite inexpensive. From the train station you should walk about 15-20 minutes, then a little uphill over... More

I stayed in the Schlosshotel in Weilburg last night (a nice town and a nice hotel). This morning I went along to do a tour of the Schloss itself, I was the only candidate for the 11am tour and was informned that the tour would only take place if there was a minimum of two persons and after waiting for... If you have never small towns in Hesse, Weilburg is a really good place to start. It sits astride the Lahn river and has a large range of the distinctive buildings which characterise this part of Germany. Wander up and down hilly narrow lanes. Admire the way that the buildings have been adapted to house the facilities that we want... More

These gardens were original of the renaissance and reformed later into baroque style. Only the Linde miniforest remains now in the original baroque, but the gardens are carefully maintained, and very beautiful. We enjoyed the garden terraces outlooking into the picturesque Lahn river, the sculptures and the flowers, and entrance is free! We did not go inside the Castle, the... More

Beautiful caste garden with many platforms A very tranquil place with beautifully plantations. It is worth wile to visit the gardens that are some hundred years old. You always find a shady place there.

A small castle but it's treasures are very astonishing. It is worth a visit at every time and daytime but maybe you get the once in a year experience of the castle lit by candles.... even more an extraordinary experience!

I think I put everything in the review title. We had German friends with us so got some translations. The guide, as others already noted, is not inclined to notice foreigners. There is no literature in English at all, not even leaflets. The palace itself certainly has seen better days, and is not really worth a visit, guide or no... More

Weilburg Castle is beautiful and fascinating inside and out. However, to see the insides, we had to take a tour (for a few euros) which was entirely in German. The xenophobic guide was rather snooty and not inclined to indulge us with the slightest effort to make anything intelligible to us dastardly foreigners or even to make a friendly gesture,... More

Nice palace located right next to an authentic square and small town center. A pretty garden with nice view and inside a guided tour along some pretty and sometimes funny sights. Too bad for us there was only a german spoken tour and no translations, so we missed out on a lot of info, even though the staff was very... More
