It's a nice place to visit and to take pictures. Looks very romantic and the pictures look good as well. There is a wall where the entire course of the Danube is displayed, thru all the country. If you are in the area, it's definitely worth stopping here.

We visited the source of the great River Danube here today. It was a lovely experience, as we hadn't realised it actually began here. So amazing, from a little bubble to the great river it becomes. The area is really nice, well laid out and informative. Well done to those who built Donauquelle and who maintain it.

I live at the Rheine, and impressed that the source of another big European river are only 50 km. away from Europe's biggest waterfall created by the Rheine

This small spring of the Donaubach (Danube Creek) is nicely done but hydrologically it is not the source of the Danube as the name implies.

Quaint old town, and the Spring itself and its immediate surrounds are lovely. We also enjoyed bands and food and drink stalls set up in the area for the 3day celebration. Worth a visit too as you can stroll the lovely parkland and enter the church, which is actually the private chapel of the local prince. His family still occupy... More

Such a serene beginning to a river that has so much history and flows through so many countries! There is an elevator for those who cannot climb the steps down!

Donaueschingen was a planned stop on our way to Lake Constance and we didn't regret that we choose this place. Not only the beautiful architecture and a very good condition, but also knowing that this is a place where such a big river as I know it from Vienna, Bratislava or Budapest is born impressed me. I wouldn't recommend to... More

Wow. Drove a half hour for this??? Big disappointment. Maybe we should have checked the descriptions before getting in a car to go see this place. But you don't really expect "The source of the Donau" to be a little pool in the middle of a town, less interesting than most town fountains. Please, please, just check out the pictures.... More

I first visited Donaueschingen many many years ago when I was 19 years old and arrived to attend a summer course and study German at the Goethe Institut. The town is a lovely town (not village) in the Black Forest. I go back whenever I can-- even for a quick visit. It is home of the Fürstenberg family -- think... More
