Nice church in the main square
Aug 2019 • Family
Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta is the main church in Monteriggioni, a small medieval town in Tuscany Region, in the center of Italy. The church is located in the very nice main square and it was built in 13th Century in Roman-Gothic style. The church is nice and if you visit the town, you can enter, but it is not wonderful, better walking in the old town.

Pretty, ancient and spiritual
Jun 2019 • Friends
We popped in to look at this ancient place of worship and say a few prayers/light a candle for a very sick friend. Its very simplicity is unusually appealing and affecting.

Nothing special, You go in and out
Jul 2018 • Family
This church belongs to your visit to Monteriggioni, but in itself it is not very special. The outside is better than the inside

Small but pretty
Sep 2018 • Couples
Unlike some attractions in touristy places, there is no fee to enter the Chiesa at Monteriggioni. Interesting frescoes, some of which have been partially restored.

Quaint church in a quaint town
May 2018 • Friends
The church inside Monteriggioni was just lovely and so simply elegant compared to the many elaborate and audacious ones we’d seen on this trip. Located in the middle of the town square, you can’t miss it. With just a few pews inside and a simple altar, this was one of my favourites because it felt very local, rural and authentic. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly.

A lovely small church for a moment of quiet.
Feb 2018 • Friends
We stopped into the church because it was open (the signs said closed for restoration). It was a lovely small church that at that moment was a welcome respite from the very loud rock music blaring just outside as part of a foot race being conducted in a snowstorm. Inside the church it was nearly silent, which says something about the thickness of the walls. Take the minutes here and breathe (consciously!).

Charming old church
Oct 2017 • Couples
This simple medieval church is the central attraction in the walled town of Monteriggioni. We were fortunate enough to be there on a Sunday morning when the locals come out in their traditional regalia to give a lovely display.
