Nestled in the Salt River Hills of north-central Missouri, Mark Twain State Park gives visitors access to sprawling Mark Twain Lake, as well as unparalleled outdoors activities. The terrain is covered by bluffs overlooking the lake and stands of oak, hickory and maple that are filled with white-tailed deer, turkey and other wildlife. Numerous picnic areas, two four-lane boat ramps and more than six miles of hiking trails with lake views offer something for everyone.

This is the second time we've taken a family trip to Mark Twain State Park. We spent the day tubing, wake boarding, and swimming. Even though it was Labor Day weekend, the lake wasn't crowded and most of the boaters were toughtful and considerate to fellow pleasure boaters. Some boaters tied up their boats in a floating configuration so kids... More

Went to one of the beaches at Mark Twain Lake and had a great time. The people there were very friendly and there to relax like us. It was a perfect day to hangout and enjoy the sunshine.

This park is serene, and in some spots you will feel like there are no other people around. We spent a day kayaking the lake, exploring some trails, and enjoying the excellent park station. Believe it or not, all of this cost us nothing in terms of park entrance fees. We drove over from our hotel in Columbia and it... More

This is a very nice State Park. Missouri is one of the very few states that does not have an entrance fee for State Parks, and camping is very reasonably priced. The Mark Twain birthplace cabin is located within this park. There is a very pleasant picnic area with a historic CCC picnic shelter. There are several spots in the... More

This state park surrounds the lake, keeping shore traffic to a minimum. Great fishing and awesome marinas!

We only had a short time to enjoy this park but made a point to get out, even in the rain, to stroll. This is a place we will be returning to when the weather warms.

One of the cleanest facilities we have ever camped at. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked with soap and TP. Showers were very nice and not on those push timers that require you to keep pressing a button to keep water flowing while soap runs in your eyes! Campsites were decently spaced but not very level if you are tent... More

Spent two nights at the 'puma' campground. Bathrooms were very clean and showers are free. Nicely spaced campsites with plenty of room. Very quiet- not a 'party place' and quiet hours strictly observed; a good family atmosphere. Beautiful lake with nice scenic overlooks, including a CCC built pavilion. We enjoyed the Mark Twain birth place cabin and museum, and joined... More
