Interesting example of a fortress turned castle. It has several well-preserved structures, such as the tower and the balcony, from where you have a very beautiful view. There is a lack of information about the historical importance of the place and the outside part deserves...More

Although not much to see, this castle offers different architecture, with a veranda like room with gorgeous archs and splendid view.

We stopped into the town for lunch and walked up to the castle. It had nice views of the city and we probably stayed for about a hour. It was a very hot day and we walked from the town square so it was a...More

Very beautiful from outside, inside we can see the views to the city of Leiria and visit the museum, but at the end we have a sensation that ẃe could discover more about this monument. There are places we couldn't visit for sure.

Hard to find and not much too it. Run down and no clear sign posts. The only highlight is the good views

Overall Leiria is a sympathetic city, with nice shops and little restaurants. To reach the "Castelo" you must climb a while, but that is, of course, also good for the condition. As every visitor will experience, on the top of the castle the views are...More

From the Castle you can get a great perspective of Leiria evolution and take good photos. A part of the castle is very well preserved still with the roof (which is not so common in Portuguese castles) while other parts are more ruined which also...More
