Lucca and Garfagnana day tour from Florence

A jewel in the crown of north-west Tuscany, Garfagnana is found north of Lucca city and within the province of Lucca. The region of Garfagnana consists of a range of beautiful areas, such as Versilia, Lucchesia and Lunigiana.

The impressive Serchio river carves a path through the entire Garfagnana region, helping to nourish the verdant green valleys that pepper this area. Set against the rugged mountains of the Apuan Alps in the west and the Apennines in the east, the soaring highs and lows of Garfagnana provide visitors with a wealth of outdoor activities. Between trips to the region’s gorgeous villages and other tourist attractions, travelers can hike, walk or mountain bike around its lush terrain. Explore the Grotta del Vento (the Wind Cave), the fabled Devil’s Bridge found in Borgo a Mozzano and you will have just begun to experience this diverse and captivating landscape. For visitors to Tuscany’s Garfagnana region, there is simply so much to discover.

Very professional outfit proving all the equipment and care you need to experience canyoning for the first time. It takes around 1.5 hours and there's much fun to be had, and enough challenge for children and adults alike. They provide shoes, wetsuits, helmets, etc, and you'll get the chance to slide and jump into pools, often fully immersed. For the adventurous, clearly, but highly recommended. In 2018 the cost was 20E per person, including for children.

Whilst in the area I took a drive through the Serchio Valley. Very hilly and roads very narrow. Scenery is outstanding. Good place for water activities like rafting. Very busy with professional bike riders using the roads in preparation for the big road races or tours in the biking calender ahead.

We went on the last day of our trip and we all had a fantastic time! We had 2 adults and 3 children 11, 13 and 15 and we all had huge smiles on our faces for the whole adventure! Thoroughly recommend! The guides were excellent even though they spoke very little english and guided us well along this gorgeous river! (Booking ease easy because David spoke perfect english.) The journey along the winding roads was definitely worth it!!

I was there today with my daughter (8.5 years) and we had a perfect adventure. We were only a group if 5 incl. 2 guides and had a lot of fun sliding and jumping down that little river.

We were a party of 15, age range 11 to adult! We had a great day out. All the guides were very friendly and helpful. We were split into 2 groups in the morning with the children in one group and the less competent adults in the second group! We did the easier canyoning in the morning to see how we could all manage and in the afternoon we tried some climbing before moving to a different location to do a different course of a higher level. Guides were encouraging and you felt safe. This day out was the best day of the holiday for a large number in our group. Nice little bar in the village for a drink afterwards - a well deserved beer!
