Oh what a waste! Shame on the National Trust for running this place into the ground, the gardens urgently need some colour and pizazz and I saw not one staff member wondering around. The cafe was dismal and my son and I were quite shocked...More

We had a delightful afternoon in the gardens and the exhibition was beautiful. Don't hesitate to stop by the tea rooms. We had a hot chocolate by the fire with delicious warm scones. Very friendly staff and unique atmosphere. Warmly recommended!

The house and gardens are spectacular and worth a visit. The cafe though, is not worth a visit. Ridiculously slow service and unprofessional, unfriendly staff. Over priced for a cold meat pie ($8.50). Don't bother. We noticed that most tables had leftover food on them....More

Had time to spare and took the kids. They enjoyed running around in the gardens and exploring the paths. The plants and really nice. Great to have a picnic on a nice day with friends.

I came to Rippon Lea primarily to see the latest exhibition Nightlife- a fashion exhibition of the 1920s and 30s. This historic house is the perfect setting for it, with the exhibition covering both floors and many rooms. Gorgeously laid out and displayed with evocative...More

Fans of Miss Fisher murder mysteries would have no doubt visited this heritage home & well kept grounds. I did too a few years ago & enjoyed it. Parking is a challenge esp. if some exhibition or event is held here. I decided to train...More

While $15 each adult might seem steep, this is the cost of a movie. You could consider National Trust membership (especially if you are going to the UK soon). The garden is amazing. Lots of unexpected delights. DO go through the house - it is...More

Hi, I certainly did not see any but there is no way they would be allowed in the house as it is full of beautiful displays and furniture. The grounds too are very well cared for so I doubt it. Not all dog owners would take... More

Yes you can and it is very straightforward. Just catch a Sandringham line train from Flinders St Station. As you exit the station there are two cafes over the road. Turn left at the main road, walk up to first set of traffic... More
