Be aware that the sign at the entrance does NOT say Spheres. It's says something about Archeological Site - Finca #x. The museum is relatively new and quite large and impressive looking. Much more impressive than the site.

The museum offers one room with a good DVD showing what and how the spheres came about - or at least the conjectures. It's in Spanish but subtitled in English. The right wing of the museum has some interesting exhibits and archeological finds, with descriptions in Spanish and English.

The left wing of the museum has nothing to do with the spheres. Perhaps it's an exhibit that changes frequently? Don't know, but not impressed.

The ticket office offers walking brochures in both English and Spanish. The walk around the site is mostly in the shade, and is 1 km (.6 miles) long -- an easy meander. The site is interesting, but there are NOT very many spheres here. And some of them are mostly buried. But at the last stop on the walk you can see numerous spheres.

It was interesting to learn about these spheres and conjectures about who made them and why. However, the site is not very impressive. Still, glad we stopped.

WOW! These are a touch with the past and the renovation of the site- instructional posters- and the air conditioned museum were wonderful! The movie is in English and Spanish. Made me more aware of the Culture of the area and Costa Rican people.

The first thing that strikes you about this park are the beautiful trees, and the historic steam locomotive. Then there are the amazing pre-Colombian stone spheres, evidence of the skills and knowledge of the first inhabitants. Our favourite however is the superb art of the current residents, almost every bench is painted with scenes inspired by the flora, fauna, people and scenery of Costa Rica. Thesee vibrant and original works along make this lively little park worth a visit.

These spheres have a legend behind them and are so amazing to see. They are relocated and the park is lovely to sit in. The colours are nice too.

These are actually located at Palmar and occupy a large park area designated to them. The history is quite interesting but you need a guide to explain as there is no real explanation otherwise. There is an old train here from the banana plantation days which is worth a look.
The stone spheres are fascinating considering they were made such a long time ago with no technology to assist. Park is otherwise nothing special.
