Apart from the incredible and fascinating beauty of the hermitage of Sant'Alberto, which rises isolated in a cloister of mountains, among green pastures, chestnuts, oaks and firs, what strikes the heart is the deafening silence that almost forces you to look inside yourself and to reflect on life, on nature and on what has been given to us by God... !!
Don't miss it if you are around !!

I visited the Eremo many times; the last time assisting at a wedding of friends in this magical frame. Great place

Though I am Italian I like to write some reports in English. For the simple reason that everybody, no matter where living, MUST know how many concealed jewels Italy has. Among these jewels, this Abbey, laying in a land called "Oltrepò Pavese", on Hills where some of the best Italian wineries are located.
Dated back to Middle Ages, full of frescoes of very high level, this Abbey is Worth the trip. Considering it is only one hour from Milan and in this location you can forget the noise and traffic of the city and recover your soul.
Come here, then, take he opportunity being in Milan to drop in, rent a car and face the paradise. No matter if in winter, when these Hills are covered with snow, or in spring, when the same Hills are blossomed with flowers and in summer, to escape from the low lands heat.
Italy is, as everybody knows, Rome, Venice, Florence, but it is also Butrio. An undiscovered spot which is only waiting for you!
