The ruin of the old cathedral is worth visiting. Not because there is a lot to see in the ruin itself but because it is located in a beautiful area. It takes 15 minutes to drive from Torshavn. A nice place to see the sunset....More

We were on a guided tour to the village of Kirkjubøur and visited St. Magnus Cathedral, which is a ruined cathedral. Bishop Erlendur started construction in about the year 1300. However, the building was never completed, because it was never roofed. The cathedral remains in...More

A highlight of any tour to the Faroes should be a visit to Kirkjubøer and the collection of sites here. The ruin of the Magnus cathedral, in its dramatic setting, is a must. As cathedrals go do not expect lots of decoration, graves and furniture....More

Here you have ruins from the middleages of a cathedral. They are currently restauring it. This is in the middle of nowhere, but a beautiful place.
