Without giving away the surprise, we enjoyed an outdoor theatre performance around the story of the Mary Celeste. A short walk in the woods took us to a pseudo candle lit amphitheatre (fire ban prevented real flame, but the effect was very good) The players were very entertaining and the story engaging I would recommend the company to others and... This theatre group presents such interesting and entertaining stories. My husband proclaimed as we left that it was the best play he had ever seen. Watching the play outside really works at this place and of course adds another dimension to the play you wouldn't get otherwise. It is not to be missed.

Since we were camping in Canning, I was looking around for things to keep us entertained during our stay and this ended up being one of the highlights of our trip! Although I was interested in both shows, I knew our boys would have more interest in the evening show told around a campfire which was about the true story... More

Well friends, a treat awaits you in Ross Creek at Two Planks and a Passion's production of The Tempest, and The Turn of the Screw. Climbing up the Mountain from Canning, you will find yourself in an idyllic setting on 180 acres of golden fields, ponds and gardens. This Centre for the Arts is unknown to many, but believe me... We enjoyed a cooperate visit to Two Planks and a Passion for the previews of their summer 2015 lineup. Our entire office was buzzing the next morning with reviews of the shows. Everyone could not believe they had seen previews; the talented team captured our imaginations and left us all impressed. I have experienced outdoor theatre before but I was... More

We've been coming up here for several years now to catch whatever it is they are doing. We've never been even remotely disappointed and the shows are always very originally produced, and the outdoor setting is wonderful. If you're going up for the main (daylight) show, I'd really suggest staying to the "by firelight" show afterwards. It's a really special... More

Our second visit to this astonishing outdoor theater experience. Quite simply one of the most wonderful experiences you could have.... Fine music, excellent acting and all within a natural setting that is nothing less than spectacular for theater. One of the best things Nova Scotia has to offer. Don't miss it next year!

This season they're putting on two plays: The Miracle Man and Dustbowl Joan. We saw the latter - the story of Joan of Arc set in the Dustbowl of the US '30s. It was an intimate and engaging experience. I'm not much of a theatre-goer but I was enthralled. Audience and actors around a comforting fire that provided the only... More

This company provides a rare experience - intimate, powerful presentation of classic tales, outdoors, for reasonable cost. The acting is so good that simple moments you may have seen done elsewhere take on a whole new power. Sitting in the cool evening air of rural Nova Scotia, this theatre is worth the trip from Halifax (or further) and the simple,... More

Two Planks and a Passion deserves a much higher ranking amongst NS attractions (and I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could); it is an amazing theatrical experience. This off the grid theatre, close to Canning NS, put on two productions this season (2013), one was Shakespeare's 'As You Like It' which was excellent, and the setting is... More
