If you have never snorkeled this is the place to experience the wonders of the sea. Exciting, safe and a memory of a lifetime.
Weather has to be calm and sunny to be able to see all the beautiful coral and fish.

Seas were very rough making the water very turbulent and hard to distinguish the fish. Our guide swam at an alarming speed; only the very strong swimmers could keep up. Swimming in the swells was a challenge and several people did not venture off the...More
Captain Christina and Snorkel Guide Axel (?) did a great job! Party of eight on one boat. We visited two different spots on the reef and saw abundant fish, also saw two rays, one nursing shark and a small baracuda. Very well done.
We snorkelled at two locations on the reef. The guides and tour company were very professional and well organized. I appreciated the added features of lunch and coffee and lockers for our personal effects.
Renting a boat to take you out to the reef is a must do when in the area. The reef is in far better shape here than in most places, though there has been some bleaching/die off lately. There are so many amazing things to...More
This National park is definitely worth visiting. It is near a beautiful small town Puerto Morelos which is a short drive from Cancun or Playa. The water is clear and you see many different varieties and sizes off fish and coral. A must see.
Our group of ten was led by a local named Pancho. He charges $20 US for a boat trip out to the reef. He guided us through the reef where we saw 4 painted eagle rays, 3 nurse sharks, a few sea turtles a schools...More

Yes I snorkel almost every day from the beach around smaller coral heads. One of the best spots for this is a place marked Ojo del Aqua which is a small fresh water cenote that empties into the sea. The main reef however is only accessible with a guided trip on which you'll get a paid wrist band that helps with the preservation of the reef.

Alltournative was great. They picked us up from our resort in Riviera Maya and ensured we were well cared for at the reef. The actual snorkeling was a guided tour but we had trouble keeping up with the guide. It is very fast paced and the water was very choppy.
