The Bixby Bridge is an icon on the coast highway and will be there for many years to come. Built in 1932 and retrofitted in 2000, it still maintains the original look and feel. Driving over the bridge which is only 24 feet wide gives you a sense of vertigo if you can look over the edge. Best photo opportunity... More

A have to stop and look on Highway 1. Cannot imagine how they built it! Be sure to look up, down, east, west, north and south!

From the North this just appears around a bend. You then have to quickly decide where to stop. This is, as has been said, the first iconic view of the Big Sur area and as such deserves a short stop to view it. Constuction is quite interesting as it appears to just grow out of the cliffs - certainly on... More

We had of course seen all the photos before arriving in Big Sur. The view was lovely. I would recommend viewing it from the northern side with the mountains in the background.

Absolutely loved spending some time with the view here. It is engrained in my mind as being one of the key moments from our trip. The best views are from the northern side, and parking seemed to be just by pulling off to the side of the road - wasn't a problem. Standing there, staring at the scene, it is... More

We came around the bend and there it was. I can't say the bridge itself is the attraction, rather getting there and the excitement of the drive and view.

Perhaps the most recognizable site in Big Sur, and the most photographed spot along Highway 1. There is a large turnout/parking area where you can hop out to get your selfie, and you will definitely not be alone if you want to ask someone to take your pic. I was surprised by how lax people were about wandering onto the... More

If your coming from the north its the second bridge. Got to see the Bixby Bridge, wow a bridge. Yes, a very pretty bridge at that. The vista point was packed and I failed to see any info boards with a good story of history here and as to why its famous...

The Bixby Bridge is on the CA 1 Highway, not very far from the Rocky Creek Bridge. It shows the impressive engineering work done. People go there for the sake of sight seeing. A good place for the photographers.
