SAS museum presents the history of Scandinavian Airlines System and the airline’s parent companies. The SAS Museum, officially opened in 2003. The majority of the staff is SAS pensioners. In the museum you can follow the history of SAS since its start in 1946. The consortium was the first of its kind in the world of aviation. The exhibits comprise models of all SAS-owned aircrafts. One section of the museum includes a complete collection of SAS uniforms. In the library you can find more than 700 volumes of aviation literature, complete magazines and much more. The museum has a comprehensive archive containing documents, manuals and printed material available for study and research purposes. The museum is closed during December - opens 10 of january 2012.

Stayed at a hotel nearby, and went for a stroll. Walked by the SAS museum, and decided to have a look. This museum, from 2003/2004 and run by the DNL/SAS Historic Society, documents the history of Scandinavian civil aviation. The museum is well worth a visit if you have the time, it's just outside the airport and is surprisingly interesting, giving you a good history of the aircraft and the company.

The staff was awesome. All retired volunteers from SAS. Some of the displayed items were mind boggling. I had never seen a multiple person arctic survival bag designed in the event of a forced landing on the polar cap. (none were ever needed)
