Was there in July 2016 for a weekend break with my girlfriend. We had a place to stay in Mad and were visiting villages of Mad, Tokaj and went for a dinner in Encs. I am a wine-freak so just driving in the nice weather among the wines was paradise for me, so if you are into that stuff Tokaj... More

While touring Eastern Europe in late October, we spent a couple of days in Eger and decide to take a day trip out to Tokaj to see the famous wine region. I tried to find information on when the harvest occurred, and it turns out many vineyards were harvesting grapes while we were there. We chose to go to the... More

Tokaj wine region is a unique part of the country being one of the best and most famous huge wine region with many flat areas and gentle declivities, lots of sunshine and good environment to produce mostly white wine. Otherwise there is not so many to see there, but lots of cellar, winery and wineyards. Economically is not the very... More

Great family owned winery with an ancient cellar to store wines. We tasted at least 5 things in their tasting room and thoroughly enjoyed hearing their story and drinking the wines. Love Furmint now. Beautiful vineyards. The manager Hajnalka Pracser speaks excellent English and French also.

Staying in Tokaj in camp for one night I was surprised that on reception there were plastic bottles with wine for sale. "What? Wine in plastic? in Tokaj? No way!" But I didn´t know that wine cellars are closed during the late evening and night. After 10. PM there was nothing to do, to go and to drink! Sad and... More

If you are used to western European wines then come to Tokaj to try something different and you will be pleasantly surprised. The whole area is full of vineyards and many wineries.

This place was hopping on a hot Saturday in June. We stopped for lunch on a deck overlooking the river and bought some cheap but very drinkable wine. We did not have time for a tasting, but maybe another time.
