Great museum with some impressive exhibits. A tank, a fighter jet, nuclear bomb! My 7 & 3 yr olds enjoyed it, 7yr old especially. Short lived though for young children as all of the smaller exhibits in glassed wall displays were difficult to see without them being carried. There were a few interactive stations but not enough to keep the... More

We visited today to see the current exhibition relating to street fashion during the war. The exhibition was excellent, I only wish my mum had been alive to see it as it would have evoked many good memories for her. The permanent exhibition was also very interesting, everyone in the party enjoyed it and we spent over 4 hours in... More

If you want to know more about the war, this is a must go! I would go again as probably missed a few things. They would like donations but don't force you to make a donation!

Well worth a visit although it is quite a way from the city centre and is quite isolated. Lots of things to see with clothes and letters as well as weapons. I liked the focus on non combatants and their life's. Most powerful of all was the video which shows in the main gallery. It talked about the war through... More

Spent about 3 hours wandering around the IWM north, and its well worth a visit. Plenty to see and there are "shows" , where film footage is projected on the walls of the museum - some of it very thought provoking. The exhibits on show are varied, and tell the story of British involvement in war, from the First World... More

We spent a thought-provoking couple of hours here during a visit to Manchester. Easily accessible from the city centre using the tram, the building is easy to spot with it's amazing architecture. It is free to enter but donations are welcome and there is an excellent guide available for £5. The layout is chronological from WW1 to the present day.... More
