We are staying in Oystese on the Hardangerfjord and spent the day in that region. The Steindalsfossen was a 12 minute drive and well worth the visit. The waterfall is not huge but the water current is quite powerful and impressive. The small river just...More

Within reasonable walking distance of Norheimsund or use the large car park before walking up to the falls. Unlike most waterfalls you can get close to the water, walking behind it as it cascades from an overhanging ledge.

The waterfall is easily accessible from the roadside and there are excellent facilities there. Nice opportunity to stretch your legs.

For most waterfalls you view them here you can get up close and really feel and see the power of the water. Be warned though go during the day and there are more tour buses than Oxford Street.

As I tried to recall, as part of our once-in-a-lifetime Norwegian trip, we cruised our way along the scenic Hardangerfjord route from Bergen (E16) to Oslo. We found this majestic waterfall in Kvam, two kilometres west of Norheimsund. Couldn't describe it better - simply an...More

This was one of the most powerful waterfalls that we saw in Norway; and is well worth a stop along the Hardangerfjord drive. My 3.5 year old daughter loved that we could walk behind the falls, although she thought the rushing water was a bit...More
