The National Zoo & Aquarium is privately owned and Australia's only combined Zoo and Aquarium. That's 2 attractions in one! We are situated on around 7 hectares of land just five minutes from the centre of Canberra. With a wide variety of both native and exotic animals, as well as the largest inland saltwater tank in Australia, there is something for everyone. Wander in and have a casual stroll around the park, or make a day of it with family, friends and make use of our picnic areas and complimentary BBQ facilities. Our Animal Encounters provide visitors with an opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the worlds most amazing creatures!

I like the accommodation where you can stay overnight in the zoo. There are opportunities available to interact with and feed animals prior to the zoo opening. I loved the experience of feeding the bears, tiger and other animals. I had a close encounter with a cheetah which was a highlight.

My partner and I went to the last week as we were doing the Zooventure tour. We went a few hours earlier than our booking to have a wamder around the zoo, which is so amazing now (last time I went was about 15 years ago)! The animals in the zoo and aquarium are amazing, the enclosures are spacious, beautifully... More

The Zoo was OK, check pricing before you go, not clearly displayed at the entrance, some of the animals looked lonely and depressed, The Dingo and the Tassie devil in particular, it was OK , but well short of other zoo's

We had a great family day at the zoo. It is good for small children as it is not a large zoo and you can see all the animals without them getting to tired.

Such a great zoo. We have younger kids so the small nature of this zoo suited us. Brillliant selection of animals and they are all so close to you. I was sceptical living in sydney and having taronga zoo on the doorstep, however, loved this place and definitely worth a visit.

There are so many plants and trees planted around the grounds of the zoo it almost feels like you're viewing the animals in a forest. I was lucky enough to have been at the dingo enclosure as the keepers were returning them from a walk and was allowed to give them a pat. There are also two stunning white lions,... More

Stayed 2 nights at the lodge, spent 2 days at the zoo. Wonderful experience for children, take a tour and learn so much. New area opening for Easter, can't wait to explore it.

As a local, I hadn't visited in a long time, but purchased a Zooventure experience for my daughter for her birthday (and I had to go with her.....). What an AMAZING afternoon. We arrived early and did a bit of a self guided tour (having forgotten to pick up a map, of course), and were initially a little underwhelmed. But... More

It is a shame that the zoo seems to be basing on people staying overnight the animals seem to be set up for private tours, so to go in as a normal visitor the exhibitions seemed very sparse. We have been before and took family back because we were so impressed and this time it was a disappointing , such... More

Hi fiona271162, sorry you feel that way. Nothing has really changed in the way of zoo exhibits since Jamala was constructed, so it's unusual that you make this comment. We haven't removed any enclosures as such - in fact we have added MORE animals and MORE exhibits over the past 2 years. The visitor path and viewing of animals remains... More
