Darling Harbour is loaded with a lot of with activities; some of the are cafes, restaurants and bars, night clubs. People spend their leisure time with children playing and bathing in both on ground and in water fountains. A circular swing rotating vertically is operative for fun lovers. There is a flat area with playing and sitting under summer huts... More

When I first went to Sydney I didn't know my way around but I would recommend staying around Darling Harbour. Great restaurants and bars. Easy location for picking up ferries or getting to the station. Very bustling with locals and tourists. Feels very safe when travelling alone. Aquarium is at Darling Harbour which was interesting and fun for all ages.... More

Darling harbor is huge and quite beautiful. There's MANY bars and restaurants and other touristy things to do. This is also one of the start/stop points for many of the harbor cruises. Bring your walking shoes because this place is really big but really fun.

Staying in Darling Harbour

Neighbourhood Profile
Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to Dj’s. Families can visit the Chinese Gardens of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Sydney Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.
