Sydney is a beautiful city. The Opera House is unique architecture. Utilizing a two day ticket for the Hop on Hop off bus is a great way to get oriented to the City.

The south end of the harbor is Cockle Bay, which was probably our favorite place to hang out while in Sydney. We could easily walk from our hotel to the Pymont Bridge and then circle Cockle Bay, which is lined with several very nice restaurants and bars that take full advantage of the bay. This place was very well done.

An excellent day out. The maritime museum well worth a visit plus in the harbor a submarine, if you are not claustrophobic. Also Endeavour , a sailing ship which is a replica of the original . We were lucky to see her in 2012 when she circumnavigated Australia. The Chinese garden is very beautiful with a small entrance fee of... More

Located in the city centre it is a busy recreational area. Being a pedestrian area safe to walk around. Atmosphere at night is very festive. Good eating places around.

Went to Darling Harbour for dinner one night with my family. I can't remember the name of the restaurant but the food was so good! The seafood was fresh and cooked perfectly! Darling Harbour had lots of restaurants, bars and people going here and there. Definitely a good place to go and check out!

A hive of activities on the water when we were there. A must place to visit when you are in Sydney. I could have stay longer to just take it all in but there were so much to do on our list!

Staying in Darling Harbour

Neighbourhood Profile
Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to Dj’s. Families can visit the Chinese Gardens of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Sydney Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.
