A beautiful structure in itself, the Sydney Opera House is one of the world's most creative and busiest arts centres. It is located on the Sydney Harbour and is juxtaposed with the Sydney Harbour Bridge. No visitor to Sydney can miss it.

Sydney Opera House is Australia’s most iconic building and ranks alongside the Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal as one of the most recognisable buildings in the world. Its unique design is enhanced by its dominant location at the end of Bennelong Point, jutting out into Sydney Harbour. In 1952 the Premier of NSW, Joe Cahill, announced the government's intention... My review is not so much about the play although it was great but about the seating in the Opera house. The best seats are on the main floor or upper section center. The upper seats on the side can have some blind spots to the stage.

Excellent venue to see your favourite musician. It always feels really special to be in the Concert Hall and makes me feel happy to be there.

This is my second visit to the Opera house & my first Shakespeare here. Othello at the playhouse was so good. If you're travelling to Sydney just book a cheap seat to anything just for the experience alone. Walking to the show around the harbour area of an evening is all part of the magic. My seat was $50 &... More

Lucky to get a guided tour round the inside of the Opera House. A very interesting story and the design both inside and outside are stunning. A visit not to be missed.

We visit here often for concerts, but for the first time I went on the one hour tour that also offers a tasting at the Opera Kitchen afterwards. I was really impressed at the enthusiasm and knowledge of the young guide, as she outlined the history, took the group through three of the performance areas, including the main concert hall.... Went to Porgy and Bess. Really interesting and informative talk before opera made it much more enjoyable. Brilliant orchestra and chorus along with a fantastic cast of actors made this a very memorable evening. Well worth a visit just to see the building and super views of Sydney.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
