The gardens are stunning at any time but as the backdrop for a wedding just amazing. Abundant sub tropical vegetation, native trees and shrubs plus introduced species.Lots of information about the garden everywhere, a fantastic restaurant and good kiosk/cafe for less money.

Beautiful gardens within 10 min walk from the CBD. The whole park is amazing, with clear walkways, views over the harbour, opera house and bridge. Plenty of seats, shade and a good café in the grounds.

Nestled between the harbour edge and the CBD, these botanical gardens are a haven of peace and beauty. Maybe not as good as Melbourne's but still very very good. Lots of interesting planting, plenty of benches and plaques to read. A great place to visit away from the bustle of city life.

The gardens are beautiful with wonderful advantage points of the harbour. The walk to Mrs Macquaries Chair is worth the effort. There was a wedding group having photos there which made it special. The walk around Farm Cove to the Opera House was beautiful. You can pay to go on a little train that has various stops to save walking.... More

It's not only the plants that are amazing, there are also the views of the opera house, the bridge and the water that can be enjoyed during the stay in the gardens (many Kodak moments!). It is a quiet and relaxing place.

There's so much to see in these gardens - so make a day of it, or alternatively explore it in a succession of visits. Keep an eye out for the 'eel pond' and the story accompanying it. The cactuses are fascinating as well.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
