Surfing beach

A long clean beach. Busy with sunbathers, surfers, swimmers and families. The water is crystal clear. Well worth the visit.

We took a ferry from Sydney Harbour on a Sunday Morning and arrived after about 20 minutes at Manly. The beach area was busy but not overcrowded and there was a real buzz about the place . We watched groups of youngsters etching out beach volley ball courts on the sand , whilst others prepared for the inevitable surfing and... More

Went to the beach near the ferry terminal as we wanted to swim. Lovely clean beach. The sea was just perfect for swimming. If you want to surf go to the beach at the other end of the Main Street.

Manly beach is very long. It is very popular with surfers. The sand is pearly and soft. There are some good waves coming in, although not so big when we were there. You are allowed to just swim. We walked to the left of the beach away from the surfing area as we didn't want to get knocked by any... More

I was there two times and still I prefer Bondi beach... it is real turistic beach, lots of shops and restourants... best place to buy souvenirs

Great beach with views of locals surfing and paddleboarding. Local restaurants overlooking this spralling beach view. The walk from Manly to Shelly Beach is spectacular and worth the climb. a must see while in Sydney.

A beautiful beach to chill, plenty of Pubs and eateries if you feel hungry or need a drink. On the beach are volleyball fields for the sportive ones or for those even more adventurous, surf lessons are available. A nice place to spend a time off

Visited on a Saturday afternoon and there was a market on with some lovely stalls to look around. Walked around to shelly beach which was only accessible by foot and had a lovely beachside restaurant.

It's a beach. If you are from an area where beaches are rare, then I'm sure you'll find this special. There is a promenade to walk along it if you don't fancy the sand.

Staying in Manly

Neighbourhood Profile
A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants as well, especially along the family-oriented areas like Shelly Beach. An excellent way to experience Manly is to rent a bike and explore the dedicated bike paths and off road trails. The North Head National Park is another must-see. Located on the southern tip of Manly, North Head National Park offers great bushwalks and panoramic views of the city.
