The beach was small. If you're into tame water, no surf, and topless sunbaking, then this is the place for you. Great cafes and juice shops nearby.

Having been to Bondi decided to go here for the day. not the best. the beach is just ok in my mind but as there is building work going on at the edge of the beach did not see t its best. Around the beach there are lots of nice pubs and places to eat.

A fairly small but clean and pretty beach. A medium surf and safe swimming with lifeguards between the flags. Also a kids pool in front of the surf club, and a ladies pool for $2 entry, amazing value.

This was a nice beach but keep in mind it is located in a more backpacker type area. It's a quiet town but nice. Beware the blue bottles (jellyfish).

I actually prefer Coogee to Bondi, but it's like picking between sapphires and emeralds - both are gorgeous, and being at both ends of the Bondi to Coogee walk, both well worth a visit. The crowds here can be as annoying as they are at Bondi though, sometimes moreso for being made of up so many backpackers without much regard... More

Stayed at the Boutique Coogee bay Hotel to fully experience Coogee and was not disappointed. The beach is just across the road and of course the start to the Coogee Bondi walk. The culture of the Coogee area is the typical aussie beach scene with lots of people in bikinis and great family/couple outings. The strip near the beach is... More

Coogee beach is a smaller beach with a younger crowd. The waves are nice to play with and plenty of shops and restaurants. Better than Bondi, Manly i enjoyed most. Bronte i still need to discover.

I love Coogee in every way. It's a beautiful beach with lots of shops and restaurants looking out on the water! I love walking along the beach and just listening to the waves and people watching. It has become a lot busier since the first time I visited but that's understandable. There are so many different viewpoints and you can... More

Staying in Coogee

Neighbourhood Profile
Coogee
Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs that does not have big waves, making it an excellent family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity footballers! A little further south is Wylie’s Baths, offering sweeping 180 degree views over the Pacific Ocean, and it is perfect for a swim or a few laps. Plenty of dining choices surround the beach, including the famous fish and chips.
